One person has died in a road accident that occurred at Mauribhir, Myagde Rural Municipality-6, Tanahun along the Prithvi Highway. The deceased has been identified as 51-year-old Lesh Bahadur Thapa, a resident of Bharkot, Putalibazaar Municipality-7, Syangja District.

According to the Area Police Office, Belchautara, a bus (Ga 1 Kha 9406) heading from Damauli to Khairenitar collided with a scooter (Gandaki AAB 0186) coming from the opposite direction at 1:10 pm on Sunday.

The scooter driver, Thapa, was seriously injured in the accident. He was immediately sent to the GP Koirala National Respiratory Treatment Center, Jharauta for treatment. The injured were declared dead at 1:45 pm when the doctor examined him, according to the police.

The bus, scooter and bus driver involved in the accident, Chudamani Sharma Pokharel, 51, a resident of Andhikhola Rural Municipality-5, Syangja district and currently residing in Birauta, Pokhara Metropolitan City-17, Kaski district, have been taken into custody by the Area Police Office, Belchautara. The police said that the necessary investigation into the accident is underway.
