Out of the 36 ropanis where the former Lekhnath Municipality Office was located, Pokhara-27 Ward Office has been built on three ropanis. A Disaster Management Center is being built with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank on five ropanis. Mayor Acharya said that there is a plan to build a specialized hospital in the remaining 28 ropanis, including obstetrics and gynecology, children, trauma, kidney and other necessary specialized services.
On February 12, 2008, the then Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Pokhara Mayor Acharya were injured when a balloon exploded during the opening ceremony of the Pokhara Visit Year. After this, both the injured were taken to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. After this incident, Mayor Acharya announced that a separate unit or hospital would be built in Pokhara within a year to treat burns.
Currently, there is a separate center at the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara to treat burns.
