Twelve-kilogram bus accident: 9 injured sent to Chitwan for further treatment

Nine people injured in a bus accident that occurred at Bahrakilo, Gorkha Municipality-11, on the Aanbukhaireni-Gorkha road section have been referred to the New Medical College in Chitwan for further treatment after being treated at Gorkha Hospital.

Twenty-one passengers were injured in a bus accident on Sunday afternoon from Gorkha to Chitwan. The injured in the accident are Sita Kumari Basnet, 56-year-old Nirumaya Shrestha of Gorkha Municipality-3, Anushka Basnet, 12-year-old Ishwar Bahadur Basnet, 14-year-old Anush Basnet, Manoj Kumar Shah of Bara Simrangan-3, Basundhara Joshi of Gorkha-6, Sangita Basnet, 35-year-old Adhabh Pyakurel of Bharatpur-5, Chitwan, and Jalumaya BK, 47-year-old from Gorkha-9, who have been referred to the New and Old Medical Colleges in Chitwan for further treatment, police said. The other injured are being treated at Gorkha Hospital, police said.

The accident occurred when the bus (Na 4 Kha 1419) parked at Bahrakilo Bazaar met with an accident, said Suraj Aryal, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Gorkha. "The bus did not have brakes and the driver got off without even putting on his seatbelt, causing the bus to roll and fall 10 meters," he said. He said the bus driver was taken into custody and further investigation into the incident is underway.
