Traffic reopens in Daunne after excavator removed

Traffic that was disrupted on Sunday morning due to an excavator breakdown on the East-West Highway has resumed.

The road, which was blocked since 11:30 am, has been reopened after an hour.

Two-way traffic was disrupted when an excavator, REE 33, broke down at the Paisththi turn of Binyi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 in East Nawalparasi under the Narayangadh-Butwal road section under expansion. The police have said that the broken vehicle has been removed and traffic has been restored.

Hundreds of vehicles were stopped in Daunne due to the road blockage. After the traffic was restored, the stopped passengers are proceeding to their destinations.

The road is currently being expanded by opening the road to one-way traffic between the Bishwakarma Baba Temple and Paisththi turn of the Daunne section.

During the expansion of the road, problems with slippery roads, potholes and heavy vehicles getting stuck in this section have been causing problems in traffic every day.
