The Besisahar-Chame road was blocked on Friday morning after a landslide with two large rocks fell in Taldanda, Naso Rural Municipality-1, Manang. The landslide occurred around 7 am on Friday morning and opened in one direction around 9:30 am, but the road was blocked again after a large rock fell.
While removing a large boulder from the road, another large boulder fell from above and the road was completely blocked after another landslide, said Manang Chief District Officer Nawaraj Paudyal.
According to him, an excavator and a blackhoe loader from Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower are currently working.
After two machines failed to remove the landslide, preparations are being made to open the road by bringing in an additional excavator from Lalupate Hydropower, he said. Foreign and domestic tourists coming to the Annapurna Circuit trekking route have been stopped due to the road being blocked.
