Although the construction of the Bharatpur-Bardaghat 220 kV double circuit transmission line has been completed, one person from the affected area has not yet received compensation. The project was delayed due to obstacles posed by locals in the expansion of the transmission line tower and a compensation dispute.

Out of 39 people in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 of East Nawalparasi, the project-affected area, 38 have received compensation, and local Lam Bahadur Gurung said that he has not received the amount yet.

Gurung said that after he went to legal action, the ward chairman filed a case against him, saying that the transmission line expansion would cause problems in his livelihood as much of his land would be affected. He said that he was deprived of compensation when the ward chairman stopped the recommendation.

Locals in the affected area had filed a case in the Supreme Court and Patan High Court, demanding that the transmission line tower be moved away from the settlement.  After the Supreme Court and the High Court cleared the way for the project to proceed with the work by providing compensation, the tower was installed.

However, the victim says that the ward has wronged only one person by not giving a recommendation. Pushpa Ale Magar, ward chairperson of Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2, said that since the legal process was not taken before, she would give a recommendation only after the full text of the court's decision was received. Gurung, who was due to receive compensation, had applied to the ward office for a recommendation on Bhadra 8, 2082. It took about 15 years for the project to be completed after a long dispute.
