Citizens preparing to go abroad for foreign employment, vacation, study and visit are in trouble.

Recently, 195 passports were received through post on Asoj 21. Nasu (Nayab Subba) Netrakashi Gurung of the District Administration Office Passport Office said that the passports have not been received since then. 'The passports have not arrived for 2 and a half months. It has been 1 and a half months since the passports arrived,' she said.

According to her, as of Tuesday, 1,033 applications have been collected, including 809 new applications, 138 applications for renewal, 55 lost applications, and 1 damaged application. Out of the collected applications, 32 are applications from minors. Information that the first batch of applications collected was printed was received from the department 2 weeks ago. However, Nasu Gurung said that the printed copies have not arrived.

According to her, the Passport Department, which used to receive up to 55 applications in a day, published a notice on Kartik 16, stating that the service was affected due to the transitional period between the new supply and the current supply, the limitation of passports and high demand, and that only essential service recipients should submit applications. She said that since then, only 12/15 people have been applying daily.

Assistant Chief District Officer Thamman Singh Gautam said that those who applied could not get passports for a long time because the department did not have passports. According to him, earlier passports used to come printed twice a month. He said that passports could not come after the latest Genji movement.

‘A notice has been issued that passports are limited in the department. Those who need them urgently have gone to the department to get passports by paying double the fee. The general public is facing a problem,’ he said. According to him, after the passports were made, they were distributed to 40/45 people daily. Now, 10-12 people come daily. Some of those who came to get passports are forced to return after their passports did not arrive.
