The work of installing girders (concrete beams) on the under-construction bridge over the Bijaypur River in Pokhara has been halted due to a technical problem with the crane. The work has been postponed for the time being as preparations were made to close the highway for 4 hours daily for 9 days starting Wednesday.
Krishna Bahadur Kunwar, Chief of Mugling-Pokhara Road Project (Western Section), said that the information will be provided again after the problem is resolved and the next time is fixed.
The Bijaypur section of the Mugling-Pokhara road under the Prithvi Highway, which is being upgraded with the loan assistance of the Asian Development Bank, was prepared to be closed until November 2.
Since it is very sensitive to install girders at night, the work was planned to be done during the day. Chief Kunwar said that 15 girders have been prepared to be installed on the two-lane precast and prestressed technology bridge.
