The Bijaypur section of the Mugling-Pokhara road along the Prithvi Highway, which is being upgraded with the help of a loan from the Asian Development Bank, will be closed for four hours daily for nine days starting Wednesday.

The under-construction Vijayapur Bridge (the former bridge connecting Lekhnath and Pokhara) will be closed to traffic until November 24 to install girders.

The work will be stopped from 6 am to 8 am and from 12 pm to 2 pm, said Krishna Bahadur Kunwar, head of the Mugling Pokhara Road Project West Section. He said that the work will be done during the day as it is very sensitive to install girders (concrete beams) at night. According to him, 15 girders have been prepared to be installed on the two-lane precast and prestressed bridge.

When the Vijayapur section is closed for 9 days, two alternative roads will be used to travel to and from Pokhara. Two-wheelers and small vehicles can travel to and from Budhibazar via Belchautara. Large vehicles will be able to travel to and from Birauta via Powerhouse Chowk.

During the four-hour closure, vehicles not using alternative routes will be allowed to move at 30-minute intervals, depending on traffic.
