The District Administration Office, Gorkha, has provided citizenship to the physically disabled Santosh Shrestha at his home.

A team including Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangat Baral reached Shrestha of Ghalang, Gorkha Municipality-3 and provided him with citizenship at his home.

Shrestha, who is unable to walk or speak, was unable to come to the district administration to obtain citizenship. He obtained citizenship at the age of 28.

Assistant Chief District Officer Baral said that once he obtained citizenship, it would be easier for him to receive government benefits including social security allowance. ‘His family’s financial condition is also weak,’ he said, ‘it was also a problem to carry it from home to the administration, we completed the process and provided him with citizenship at his home.’

Shrestha has a ‘A’ category disability identity card. He also said that now that he has obtained citizenship, it will be easier to receive social security allowance through the bank.
