Hiker injured while hiking in Manaslu, could not be rescued for two days

A hiker injured after being hit by a rock falling from a cliff has not been rescued for two days.

Minuindra Lamsal of Kathmandu Tokha Municipality-6, who was on a tour of the Manaslu area, was injured on Thursday after being hit by a rock falling from a cliff. Police have said that despite efforts to rescue him by helicopter since Thursday, adverse weather conditions have caused problems.

A rock fell from a cliff while he was walking on foot in Chumanubri-5 Bihi. DSP Rajkumar Shrestha of the District Police Office, Gorkha, said that he had a head injury. ‘He is in a hotel in a place called Bur,’ he said, ‘He has been treated by health workers who went from the Bihi health post,’ he said, ‘We had been trying since Thursday to take him to Kathmandu for further treatment, but it is raining continuously, and the rescue has been hampered by the inability of the helicopter to fly.’

A vehicle has reached Chumanubri-3 Pangsing along the Larke road. It takes about 10 hours to walk from Wur to Pangsing.
