The police have begun an investigation into seven people arrested on charges of burning the Hoopsekot police station on Bhadra 10.

According to District Police Information Officer Mohan Khadka, their remand was extended by four days by the court on Thursday. 'Investigation is underway,' he said, 'but no complaint has been received at the police office against those who burned down other private houses.'

The houses of the mayor and deputy mayor of Gaindakot, Devchuli, Kawasoti, and Madhyabindu municipalities were burned in eastern Nawalparasi. Protesters had burned and destroyed the private house of Laxmi Pandey, chairperson of Hupsekot rural municipality.
