The road up to Khangsar, Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality-9 in Upper Manang, which was blocked due to snowfall, has been reopened. The approximately 8-kilometer road from Humde to Manang, the area with the most snowfall, was reopened by Tuesday evening, while the approximately 6-kilometer road from Manang to Khangsar was reopened on Wednesday.

According to Chief District Officer Nawaraj Paudyal, a dozer was deployed from Khangsar towards Manang Gaun, a dozer from Humde towards Manang Gaun and a joder in Humde to clear the road. He said that machinery was used in coordination with the Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality and construction professionals, and security forces including the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police opened the road.

According to him, the process of arranging vehicles for all tourists who had to descend from the Tilicho and Thorangla areas is ongoing. ‘Some vehicles are in the process of arriving. We have sent all the tourists going to their destinations in the lower areas,’ he said.

According to him, about 400 tourists from Khangsar, about 300 from the upper Manang area and about 300 from various places may have gone to the lower areas on foot or by vehicle. ‘Some tourists have decided to go to their destinations after the weather improves. We have banned going to the upper areas until the weather clears,' he said, 'We can go once the weather clears.'

According to him, six vehicles from the administration, police, army, and local level are facilitating the rescue of those in distress. He said that more than 25 jeeps from Manang and Humde have gone towards Besisahar with tourists.

According to him, a dozer has been mobilized from Khangsar towards Manang Gaun, a dozer from Humde towards Manang Gaun, and a loader in Humde to open the road. 'The road from Chame to Manang Gaun has been opened. Now it is up to Khangsar. Once the road up to Khangsar is opened, all the tourists will descend to the lower areas,' he said.
