The District Administration Office, Gorkha, has urged people not to trek in the Manaslu region until Kartik 16.
Chief District Officer Ramuraj Kadaria said that considering the possibility of disaster incidents due to snowfall in the high Himalayan region since Monday and the possibility of snowfall for a few more days, people have been urged not to trek in the Himalayan region until Kartik 16. ‘We have also asked those who are currently trekking to stay in their respective places in a safe place,’ he said.
Tourists visiting the Manaslu region have started returning. Tourists who had reached Larke Pass have returned from Dharamshala, said Santosh Sherchan, head of the Manaslu Conservation Area (MCAP). ‘Tourists have started returning after difficulties arose at Larke Pass due to heavy snowfall,’ he said. He said that tourists did not go to the upper areas from Syala after the snowfall.
Police have stated that 460 tourists who had reached Larke Pass have returned from Samagaun. "Most of the tourists have already returned," Sherchan said.
