After the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 damaged the building at New Road, Pokhara Metropolitan City has prepared to rent the bank building and provide services. The Metropolitan City is going to rent two floors of the Rastriya Banijya Bank building at Nayabazaar, Pokhara-9.

For this, the Metropolitan City Information Officer Krishna Prasad Tiwari said that technical evaluation work is underway for the operation of integrated services after discussing with the bank on the issue of rental rates. "We will also bring the branches that are already outside there. We are conducting technical and financial evaluations to see how to provide services there and how much it will cost. After that, we will make an agreement and move," he said.

The Metropolitan City has not yet decided how much monthly rent it will pay to the bank. The bank had initially proposed Rs 49 per square foot. After requesting a reduction, the bank is ready to pay around Rs 40 per square foot.

He informed that two floors are being rented for 20,000 square feet. If an agreement is reached at Rs 40 per square foot, the Metropolitan City will have to pay Rs 800,000 monthly to the bank as rent. The Metropolitan City has requested the bank to reduce it even further from Rs 40. If the bank agrees to Rs 35 per square foot by the time the agreement is reached, the Metropolitan City will have to pay Rs 700,000 monthly rent.

Even before the movement, the Metropolitan City has been paying about 300,000 rupees per month for the rent of the Infrastructure Development Division, Economic Development Division and other structures. If all the branches are moved to the building currently being rented, the Metropolitan City will have an additional financial burden of 400,000 to 500,000 rupees.

The services provided from the main building have been operating from the Pokhara Hall, the Metropolitan City Fire Department building and various departments since October 1. The offices of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer, Public Accounts Committee, Law Department, Sanitation Department, and Information Technology Department have been placed in the Fire Department building in Shanti Van, Pokhara-9. The Administration, Revenue and Urban Development Division, Stores, Statistics, Disaster/Complaint Response, Archiving, Registration, Accounting Department and the Metropolitan Police Force are located in the Pokhara Hall. The office of the Chief of the Economic Administration Division and the Treasury Administration Department are being provided from the Education Division building in Damside, Pokhara-17.

The building that houses the Infrastructure Division at New Road provides services for the Infrastructure, Internal Audit, Planning, Land Administration, and Procurement Divisions. The Economic Development Division at Janapriya Marg in Pokhara-7 is currently providing services for the Cooperatives Division, Labor and Employment Division (including the Sami Program), and Business Promotion Center.

The Metropolitan City has planned to build an administrative building on the land of the Pokhara Valley Urban Development Committee at Dayside, Pokhara. The DPR construction work is underway as per the plan to build the building on an area of about 45 ropanis. Since constructing temporary structures elsewhere would be costly and time-consuming, the Metropolitan City is planning to rent two floors of the bank to use until the building is constructed there.
