Twenty-seven people from Lamjung who escaped from Kaski and Tanahun prisons are still at large.

Two more inmates who escaped from the prison in Damauli, Tanahun, during the protest on Bhadra 10 have been arrested in Lamjung.
Among those arrested are Santosh Gurung, 39, of Susta Rural Municipality-4, Nawalparasi (theft case) and Binod Gurung, 45, of Besisahar Municipality-3, Ranikuwa (rape case).
District Police Office Chief DSP Resham Bohara said that the two arrested persons have been handed over to the Tanahun Prison Office. According to him, 45 of the prisoners and detainees who escaped during the protest on Bhadra 24 have been taken into custody so far and handed over to the relevant prisons. He said that the search for the remaining absconders is ongoing.
After the wall of Lamjung Prison collapsed on July 3, 108 prisoners and detainees were transferred, including 78 to Kaski Prison and 30 to Tanahun Prison. All those transferred had escaped from the prison on Bhadra 24.
According to the police, 26 of the 27 prisoners and detainees transferred from Lamjung, including 26 who escaped from Kaski and 1 who escaped from Tanahun, are still at large. He said that many of the escapees have been found hiding with relatives or families, and the others who are still at large may also be with relatives or families.
‘We are searching for the escapees according to their country of origin. Even if they hide, they must face legal punishment. We have issued a public notice to reach the places from which the prisoners and detainees have escaped. If they do not go, they will be arrested,’ he said.
According to him, some have been released on court orders. Some have returned to prison on their own. He said that the search for the escapees is ongoing.
