A 79-year-old woman has died due to fire in a house in Gandakot municipality.
According to Nawalparasi police chief Yuvraj Khadka, Shyam Kumari Shrestha was burnt to death in Gaindakot municipality-10 Yayakan Chowk on Sunday morning.
Only the room where Shrestha is staying has been set on fire. Shyam Kumari, who was living alone in the house, was burnt to death in the living room. SP Khadka, who reached the spot, informed that a dog was called to find out why the incident seemed mysterious.
'We are trying to find out why the person who was living alone was burnt,' said Khadka, 'The police did not enter the house to find out the reason for the burning of the old woman.' Out of the two sons of Shyam Kumari, the elder son lives in another house nearby and the younger son lives in America with his family.
The fire broke out on Sunday morning and the police and armed forces brought the fire under control at 7:30 am. The cause of the fire has not been revealed .
