It has been seen the involvement of RSVP workers in the arson and vandalism of Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya's house. A group vandalized the house of Mayor Acharya in Pokhara-9 Nayabazar on the afternoon of August 24th. That same night, another group set fire to his house.
It has been found that the chairman of RSWP Pokhara-10, Chandra Bahadur Thapa, was involved in the arson that took place at night. In a public video on social media, it is seen that he has burnt the belongings inside the house of Mayor Acharya . After the video came out, Thapa was suspended by the Gandaki Provincial Disciplinary Commission on Monday. Commission chief Yogendra KC has sent a letter suspending him from all responsibilities till further decision as he is involved in undesirable activities beyond the code of conduct of the party.
The suspended Speaker Thapa has also accepted his weakness . Writing a status on Facebook after the party took action, he said that he might have done something wrong because of the excited crowd.
He said that he reached the mayor's house by chance, and after seeing that burning the house would damage other houses around him, he suggested to those who were there to burn the contents outside. He claims that he brought it outside after seeing that other people there could burn it inside the house. He mentioned that the RSVP had no hand or direction in the
incident. He has said that he is ready to face any action according to the law if he is found guilty.
Mayor Acharya said that after watching the received video, it was seen that people of RSVP were involved in both the house and the metropolis. "The people seen in my house are also seen in the metropolis," he said. He said that documents of family members, old photographs, and about 4,000 books were damaged in the house. He said that he was not sure about the damage as he returned from a foreign visit only on Monday. Before the Gen-G movement, Mayor Acharya had gone to Dubai to participate in the International Kaski conference. He is now in Kathmandu. After the
incident, Mayor Acharya wrote on Facebook that his house was destroyed by intruders. He has mentioned that he did not do immoral things when he was mayor for 3 years and he built a house 20 years ago. "After I became the head of the metropolis, I did not receive any financial benefit. It is well known that even the monthly benefits coming in my name are being spent on student education and social sector,' he said, 'I am a person who has been involved in various professions and businesses for the past 33 years . My life is always like an open book in front of Pokhreli.'
