Dhanraj Acharya, head of Pokhara metropolis, has said that it is unbelievable to say that there was 14 billion corruption in Pokhara International Airport. At the opening of the 30th General Assembly of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Natta) Gandaki Province, he said that those who have the intention of not running Pokhara Airport are connected with corruption.

"The airport built in 21 billion was 14 billion corruption, 7 billion was left, 3 billion is still to be paid, 4 billion is left. 4 billion, will it continue in two years?', he questioned and said, 'It would have been better if the numbers were similar. This is not a matter of random talk, it has to be based on facts.'' He said that if there was any disturbance, the state should not leave anyone behind under any circumstances.

He said that the capital will not try to take development elsewhere. "Kathmandu is saying things like, ``Pokhra Airport should not have been built, it is a curse,'' he said. ``Kathmandu does not tolerate outsiders, being the eldest son.''

The old Pokhara Airport used to have 1,000 to 11 hundred passengers daily, but now more than 5,000 passengers are arriving daily. Earlier, there were no flights after 3:30 p.m., but now flights are taking place until 9-10 p.m., although the new airport has an annual capacity of 1 million, now 1.2 million people are returning annually. "It is running at full capacity, but there is no international flight," he said, "now there is a regular flight between Pokhara and Lhasa per week. Pokhara-Chengdu-Australia is starting soon. Apart from that, other airlines are also trying to come.

He mentioned that there is an agreement with the air service company to add flights to Dhangadhi, Bhadrapur, Simra and Janakpur by removing Bharatpur and adding flights to Kathmandu, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur and Nepalgunj. Stating that the provincial government should also pay attention to tourism promotion, he said, "If this is the kind of government it is, then there is no need to do anything, nor to abuse." There is a resource, there is a ministry. The ministry must have done some activity. We are with you in that.'
