The fare rate for traveling by vehicle in Upper Manang in the Himalayan district of Manang has been reduced by half. The District Administration Office Manang held an all-party meeting with the transport business and adjusted the fare rate.

 

From the headquarters of Chame to various villages in Upper Manang, Jeep has been operating for a decade. According to Chief District Officer Matrika Acharya, the fare from the headquarters Chame to Khangsar, which is about 35 km away, was charged up to 1,500 rupees per person, but now the fare has been fixed at 750 rupees. He said that the fixed rental rate will be effective from August 1.

The meeting of the temporary route and fare determination committee held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Acharya has fixed the fare rates of public vehicles operating on 19 routes from the headquarters Chame to Upper Manang. Chief District Officer Acharya said that the fare rate was fixed in the presence of Chame, Manang Ngisyang, Chairman of Nason Rural Municipality, Head of Security Agency, Head of Transport Management Office Damauli, Tanahun, Assistant Chief District Officer, Infrastructure Development Office representative, Marsyangdi Transport Pvt.

According to him, the fee for the 29 km from Chame to Upper Manang was Rs 1,250, but now it has been fixed at Rs 590. 540 rupees has been fixed for 27 km from Upper Manang to Bhraka. 600 rupees has been fixed for 30.28 km from Manang to Tank Manang. Earlier, the fare from Chame to Humde and Mungje was Rs 1,250, but now it has been fixed at Rs 410 and Rs 520 respectively.

The administration has stated that the rent has been fixed considering the demands of local people, public representatives, hoteliers, the proposed fare rate of transporters, the condition of the road section, the height (altitude), the geography and it has been agreed to review the condition of the road section in the future and regularly review it when the price of fuel decreases.

Jeep fares are fixed at Rs 19.50 paise per kilometer on unpaved roads and Rs. 7.50 paise per kilometer on paved roads, Chief District Officer Acharya said. He warned that if this provision is found not to be followed and implemented, action will be taken according to the law.
