One person died on Saturday after being hit by a landslide near Nayche village, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-6, Lamjung. 3 people were seriously injured.
According to the police, 44-year-old Lagandhwaj Gurung, working in the 40.27 megawatt Super Nyadi hydroelectric project, died in the landslide. According to the police and the project, his permanent residence is yet to be identified as he is living temporarily in Benisahar Municipality-8.
The workers, including Gurung, who were doing mechanical work on behalf of G&G Infra Pvt Ltd, one of the construction companies of the project, were having lunch at the camp on Saturday afternoon when a landslide suddenly occurred. Project sources said that Gurung died on the spot after the landslide.
Chief DSP Resham Bohra of District Police Office Lamjung said that he got information about the incident around 3 pm on Saturday and deployed police from Bahundanda Police Station. Gurung was found dead after workers including the police rescued 4 people. He said that Gurung died in the landslide and 3 injured people were brought to the provincial hospital in Bensihar for treatment.
21-year-old Viraj Gurung of Dordi Rural Municipality-5, 35-year-old Pritam Lama of Madhya Nepal Municipality-7 and 25-year-old Bikas Bishta of Jhimruk Rural Municipality-6 of Pyuthan district were injured. The injured have injuries on their heads, limbs, and lives. The police said that they were brought to the provincial hospital in Bensi Sahar. camp and when the landslide started falling, 4 people were injured by the landslide and 36 others were safe. The police said that detailed information about the incident is yet to be received.
