Last year, 18 tourists died in various destinations in the Annapurna conservation area. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), among the dead are six Nepalis, eight Indians, one each from America, Germany, Korea and Switzerland.

Four tourists lost their lives last year due to falls during padaraya and other accidents. Ravin Kadaria informed. According to him, most of the lake incidents happen in the upper reaches of Mustang and Manang.

In the year 2080/81, 20 tourists died in the lake in Annapurna region. Kadaria, the head of ACAP, said that some tourists who had gone to the lake were rescued by helicopter. He mentioned that the problem of lake is more common among Indian tourists who go for Muktinath Darshan by road.

'When going on a trip to the Himalayas and high mountains, you should not reach too high a height at once, you should take a break', said Dr. Kadaria, 'If you experience the symptoms of a leak, you should immediately return to a place with a lower altitude.'

ECAP office has started to keep the statistics of incidents involving lakes for the past two years. Incidents of people falling and dying during the march are repeated every year. In the year 2080/81, Swedish, German and American tourists fell and died in Manang in Kaski.

'When going on a long-distance trek, you should not go alone, you should only walk in a group or with a guide', Chief Dr. Kadaria said, 'It is advisable to go on a trek through a trekking agency.'

Tourist guide Diwas Gurung said that when Indian tourists reach Muktinath at once by vehicle, there is a problem of lake formation . "When traveling to the Himalayas, you should take a break. When you go from a low altitude to a high altitude, you will suddenly get to a lake," he said.

Gurung, a guide, said that the problem of getting lakes is more common among Nepalis who reach Tilicho lake from Terai region including Kathmandu valley. According to him, traveling by adapting to the local climate and taking rest is the best way to avoid the problem of lake. He advised the hiking tourists not to cross the height of more than 500 meters in one day.

Gurung, the guide, said that one should go on the trek with physical, human health and fitness. He says that if there is a new and distant destination, one should not walk alone.
