The team led by Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendraraj Pandey has returned to Pokhara after a week-long visit to China. The team returned to Pokhara on Monday after participating in a program organized by the Tibetan government on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
Chief Minister Pandey's press coordinator Narahari Sapkota said that he met with Chinese Communist Party Secretary for Tibet Autonomous Region, Wang Junzheng, during the visit. In the meeting, Chief Minister Pandey proposed cooperation in promoting trade and tourism between the two countries by regularly operating the Korla border crossing of Mustang, which is connected to Tibet.
Making it easier for Nepalis and other foreigners to travel to Mansarovar through the Tibetan border, adding direct flights from Chinese cities to Kathmandu and Pokhara, maintaining and expanding relations between Tibet and Gandaki province in the areas of investment and tourism promotion. Discussions were held on facilitating tax exemptions to attract large investors from Nepal and China, facilitating the availability of visas and entry passes for tourists from Pokhara to Lhasa, and collaborating.
Secretary Wang said that organizing the Korla border crossing could be a good opportunity for cooperation. He said that the Tibetan government is also positive in the regular operation and management of the Korla border crossing. He said that the Tibetan government is positive for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism, agriculture and industry. He recalled visiting Gandaki province in November 2023. visit, Chief Minister Pandey and Chinese Communist Party's Linji City Party Secretary Ao Liuchwan met with Linji People's Government Chief Bata. The visiting team included Chief Minister's wife, Congress Chief Whip Nanda Prasad Neupane, UML Chief Whip Govinda Bahadur Nepali and Chief Minister Pandey's Press Coordinator Narahari Sapkota. This team went to China on July 6.
