Under the Siddharth Highway, a motorable bridge has been constructed on the Pauvai Khola of the Badkhola-Pauvaigaunde-Taksar-Dulegaunda road section as an alternative to the Syangja-Pokhara section.
A bridge of 15.6 meters length has been constructed with the investment of the Government of Gandaki province on Pauwai River in Putlibazar Municipality-5 of Syangja. The bridge was inaugurated on Saturday by Prakash Bahadur KC, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport, Gandaki State Government.
A contract was signed between Infrastructure Development Office Syangja and Rankhola Siddhababa Construction Service on 081 Baisakh 17 for the construction of this bridge. It was completed on June 23, 082 as the contract was signed for 1 crore 86 lakh 92 thousand rupees so that it could be built within 6th of July 082. Dayaram Adhikari, head of the office, informed that the builder received the final payment of 1 crore 75 lakh 69 thousand rupees. According to him, the 8.4-meter wide bridge can be used for 6-meter vehicles and 2.4-meter footpath has been constructed on both sides.
Speaking after the inauguration, Physical Minister KC said that the state government has prioritized the needs of the people and accelerated the pace of development. He expressed his belief that daily commuting, business, transportation of agricultural products and other social activities will be easier. The Government of Gandaki Province is advancing the pace of development by prioritizing the needs of the people, making plans, implementing them and directly benefiting the people. In line with this idea, the Pauvai Khola road bridge will also be helpful in expanding the network of people's easy travel, safe movement and economic activities," he said.
UML MP Sudhir Kumar Paudel, who is also the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, said that despite the negative comments, the state government is doing very well. Provinces are the backbone of federalism. The provincial government has done more than the negative things that have been spread about the province," he said. He said that it is necessary to use the Badkhola-Pauwaigaunde-Taksar-Dulegaunda road not only to connect Syangja-Pokhara-Tanahun but also for economic gain. He said that it would be better if it could be developed as an economic corridor and the lifeline of Syangja. He said that he will do his best to make this road safe.
RPP party leader Pancharam Gurung said that although there are many needs, it is necessary to identify which is the important infrastructure. He said that one should be patient as development cannot happen immediately.
Former Finance Minister of Gandaki Province and UML MP Sitakumari Sundas said that there have been many changes in infrastructure construction in a short period of time. She recalled that in the past she used to walk from her house in Syangja to Pokhara. "You should have left Badkhola from Thuladihi or you should have walked this way to Pokhara. We used to rub our eyes and go to Pokhara in the morning," she said, "today the road has been made. A lot has changed. She said that because infrastructure was built according to the needs and capacity of resources in the past, now it is narrow and insufficient. He said that it is necessary to expand the old infrastructure in time. "Yesterday, the development works were done according to the needs and resources. The road here became small yesterday. Now we have to develop according to time. This also changes with time,” she said.
State MP Kalpana Tiwari elected from Congress said that it is necessary to link roads with income generation. She suggested to the locals that it would be a good option to run a homestay as they are close to Pokhara. She said that there will be no point of completeness of development and that road widening and bridge construction will continue.
