The police have arrested four people on the charge of forcing children to sell voting cards by conducting 'Gorkha Dance Champion-2082' and extorting money through their parents.

Police arrested 20-year-old Ayusha Pandey, 21-year-old Purushottam Neupane of Rupandehi Tilottama Municipality-7, 20-year-old Sharda Kshetri and 19-year-old Tanisha Magar of Kanchan Rural Municipality-1.

On Wednesday, they conducted 'Gorkha Dance Champion-2082' at Arughat Rural Municipality-9 Arughat Bazar at AP Nachghar Tilotta under the guise of being organized by Manigram Rupandehi, District Police Office Gorkha Police Inspector Dhuvra Prasad Sharma said. "In Dance Champion, children from different places are selected to participate in the dance and the participants are given a false temptation that they will get a voting card worth 100 rupees each (Gorkha Dance Grand Finale Champion written on it) to win the final, whoever can cut the voting card will be the winner, the winner will be able to participate in various programs and win various prizes," he said. 

The police said that they were arrested based on the information received from the victims that the money was collected through the parents of the children who participated in the dance by making them believe.  He said that 89,760 rupees in cash, 7 semi-cut pads of fully cut tickets, 14 pads of partially cut tickets, and 13 pads of uncut tickets were also found from the arrested persons. 

The police also informed that the arrests are being investigated in the district court of Gorkha with an extension of permission for the investigation in fraud-related offences. Others who have been cheated by the competition have also been asked to contact the police office.
