The inmates of the Jail Office, Kaski have sent a demand letter to the Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar expressing their dissatisfaction with the appointment of Chowkidars. 362 out of 366 inmates in 'A' block of the prison sent a letter to the Home Minister on Monday with a one-line demand to change the watchman.

The inmate sent the letter to the complaint email id of the ministry through the helper outside.  The Jail Management Department had recommended Ajay Gurung to Jail office Kaski on Sunday to make Chowkidar.

Another prisoner, Prakash Gurung, a supporter, disagrees with this decision. The newly appointed Chowkidar Ajay claims that Prakash favors prisoners who are not able to protect the rights and interests of the prisoners, have partiality and despotic working style, financially exploit the prisoners, and do not maintain good governance.

Since the chowkidar was appointed through financial manipulation, they have demanded to investigate that too. The prisoners have mentioned in the letter that they will boycott the new watchman until the demand is met, and they will go on a hunger strike.

The names of Ajay Gurung, Prakash Gurung and Prashant Thapa were recommended from Kaski as Chowkidar for the financial year 082-83. Ajay and Prakash are serving life in prison for duty-related crimes and Prashant for drug-related crimes.
