1.6 megawatts of solar energy will be produced using the vacant land of the 70 megawatts Madhyamrsyangdi hydropower plant located in Lamjung.

A peak capacity ground-mounted grid-connected solar power generation center is going to be constructed on the land of Barbot Shera located in Benisahar Municipality-11, Chiti, on the east side of the dam of Madhyamarsyangdi Hydropower Center.

"Ground Mounted Grid Connected Solar PV Project" implemented through the German Development Bank (KFW) with the financial support of the German government, on Friday, Hitendradev Shakya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Dr. Benjamin Sidel, Head of Benisahar Municipality Gumansingh Aryal, Director of KFW Office for Bangladesh and Nepal Michael Sumsar and others laid the foundation stone. Niraj Subedi, head of KFW office in Nepal, officials of Nepal Electricity Authority, public representatives and others were present on the occasion.

5.8 megawatt solar power projects have been started in Nawalparasi Gandak Surajpura in Lumbini province and 2 megawatts in Surkhet Jupra in Karnali province with the financial support of the German government. Kulekhani's markhu is being studied for energy solar power generation. The German government has provided a grant of 8 million euros for ground-mounted grid-connected solar power projects.

This project will have the technical support of the German consulting organization Gopa Tech Germany. The Indian company Progel Green Energy Limited has taken charge of the construction. The construction company will design the entire project, equipment supply, connection, quality and construction of related transmission lines. Also, the construction company will undertake the 5-year operation and maintenance and 2-year responsibility period of the solar center.

The Madhyamrsyangdi hydropower project was built a decade and a half ago with 80 percent investment from German donor agency KFW and 20 percent investment from Nepal Electricity Authority. Now, with the grant support of the same KFLW, a solar energy center is going to be constructed within the project area. According to Prakash Raut, head of the

project, the contract for this project was signed on January 24, 2081, and the contract will come into effect on May 13, 2082, and will be completed on February 1, 2082. According to him, 9.4 megawatts of electricity will be produced by February 1st. Kulekhani Markh is under study. According to him, it is projected that 800,000 euros will be invested from the German government for all 4 solar power centers and about 30 percent of Nepal's investment will be about 300,000 euros.

Head of Development Assistance of the German Embassy in Kathmandu. Benjamin said that he is happy to share in Nepal's energy development and said that more support can be given in its promotion. Bangladesh and Nepal Director of KFW Office, Michael, pointed out that the development of solar energy will further help the development of Nepal and there is no option to complete it within the stipulated time. Gumansingh Aryal, Head of Benisahar Municipality, said that if alternative energy can be emphasized instead of hydropower project, it will reduce the damage.

Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Shakya expected that the project will ensure the supply of clean energy in the promotion of environment-friendly and renewable energy. He expressed his gratitude for the German government's grant support and expressed confidence that there will be more support in energy.
