Free seedlings to students and farmers

A young man from here is reaching the houses of students and farmers and distributing fruit plants. After the rainy season, he started this work in two municipalities and two rural villages here.

He also taught the students how to take the distributed plants home and plant them. He said that plants were also distributed to farmers based on their needs.

Sujan Sapkota of Jaimini municipality-2 took the plants needed by the farmers and distributed them from house to house. He said that he has been running this campaign for three years. The young people involved in the production-oriented and green Baglung campaign have distributed more than 12,000 plants in three years. He is also a graduate student in agriculture.

Sapkota claims that it is distributing plants based on needs after studying the local climate and soil. He said that this year they have made a target of distributing seedlings to 20 schools and 19 wards.

'The goal is to distribute more than 4,000 plants,' he said, 'I am distributing plants like orange, lemon, timur, kibi, srikhand, banana, etc., which will especially benefit the farmers.'

As he has a master's degree in agriculture, he has also prepared his own nursery. Earlier, he said that he bought the seedlings from nurseries in Salyan and Rukum and distributed them. Some plants have also been brought by coordinating with different nurseries. He said that this work is being done targeting Jaimini and Baglung Municipalities, Kathekhola and Bareng Rural Municipality.

Being an agricultural technician, he also provides information on the treatment methods required if plant diseases are detected. Prakishta Sharma, Agriculture Officer of Krishi Gyan Kendra, said that his work has benefited the farmers.
