Kaligandaki Corridor has been blocked due to landslides caused by incessant rain since Tuesday night.
Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharti said that the road was blocked after the corridor was swept away by a landslide in Ecclesal of Baglung Municipality Ward No. 10. Along with the
corridor, the Maldhunga Kushmisera road has also flowed. Vehicles are not able to run on this road either. People of Jaimini Municipality and Bareng Rural Municipality of South Baglung have not been able to come to the headquarters since both roads were blocked.
Local businessman Khagendra Poudel informed that the milk and vegetable shipments that come regularly have been affected. Similarly, during the rainy season, the flood that occurred in Sarate river at Bijuwa in Paiyunthanthap of Jaimini Municipality Ward No. 9 has washed away the power house of the local small hydropower project.
When this house was washed away, the locals complained that they could not get phone and other services without getting electricity. Meanwhile, due to the flood from Mustang, the level of Kalgandaki has increased and panic has spread in the settlements of the coastal area.
Bharti informed that no one has been alerted to go near the Khola river at the place where Maldhunga and Jaimini Dhams are installed. The police have been mobilized to minimize the possible impact that may occur in the coastal area.
