A woman from here who went to Oman on a tourist visa stayed as a domestic worker. After working illegally, she was subjected to violence and suffered a lot. After not getting any help, she sent the news to the Immigrant Resource Center in Baglung.
After the
center contacted the embassy, they were rescued and returned to Nepal. Since she was on a tourist visa, she did not get the money she worked for, and the perpetrators did not get an opportunity to take action. The center has succeeded in returning the woman who was at risk of death due to violence to Nepal safely.
But the condition of his house is poor. She went to Oman with the aim of working after her husband went to Korea and did not send money for a long time and got married again. Since she did not have a labor contract and went on a tourist visa, the state could not take any initiative. Now she is forced to look for support and raise children.
A young man from Tamankhola went to Bahrain 18 years ago. The young man, who has not been in contact with his home for a long time, is now seriously ill there. Bringing it to Nepal costs more than 14 lakhs. There is only a disabled father in the house. Even after being brought to Nepal, the family is not in a position to receive treatment. The father of the victim has drawn the attention of the state to solve this problem. The center has not been able to rescue those youths who went on tourist visas because of their illegal residence. On the contrary, it has become a compulsion to bring patients to Nepal by spending money.
The number of people going abroad illegally and doing illegal work is increasing. They seek help only when they are in trouble for doing illegal work. According to Meen Prasad Upadhyay, coordinator of the Safe Migration Program Baglung, many people who have gone abroad illegally are in trouble. 'Some have lost their lives there, some have been injured,' said Upadhyay, 'because the process has not been completed, it has become difficult to rescue those who do not have compensation, relief and insurance.' According to the statistics of the
center, only 7 people from Baglung who went abroad illegally have died this year. 10 workers who have received work permits have also died. One of them is also a woman.
Gangakumari Sharma, the center's consultant, said that although the bodies of those who completed the process were brought in on time, relief and compensation could be provided to the families, but nothing could be done for those who did not complete the process. "We have consulted every citizen who has come to make a passport, but the lives of those who go illegally are at risk," Sharma said.
According to Sharma, 58 of the 138 workers in Baglung were rescued safely this year. The district administration office facilitated the rescue of 22 of them. Lakhs of rupees have been cheated in recent times by saying that they are going to work abroad.
In the year 2080/81, 17 youths from Baglung died in foreign employment. Most of those who died were under the age of 40. The highest number of deaths occurred in Saudi Arabia.
In that same year, another 156 people who went to work abroad from Baglung faced various problems. Among them, 137 were male and 19 female victims. The center has been providing regular counseling services to avoid getting into trouble while going abroad. Upadhyaya informed that 8 thousand 770 people have been consulted this year as well.
