Small vehicles have come into operation on the southern road section blocked by rain. After the rain on Sunday morning, the traffic was stopped since 12 noon due to the vehicle getting stuck in Daunne.
After the rain has stopped, now small vehicles and passenger buses have started plying. After taking out the stuck vehicles, cargo trucks and lorries were stopped in the vicinity and small vehicles were brought into operation.
According to Yadav Dhakal, Superintendent of Police of East Nawalparasi, small vehicles and buses have started operating after all freight vehicles traveling east-west through the highway stopped at Dumkibas and Bardghat. According to Dhakal, traffic has been operating there since 3.30 pm on Sunday.
On the 14 km long road between Dumkibas in East Nawalparasi and Bardghat Bazar in West Nawalparasi, the problem of vehicles getting stuck in mud and stopping traffic is recurring every day.
Although the Chinese contractor company China State Engineering Corporation has taken over the work of upgrading the highway, it has not been able to complete the upgrading of the road for 6 years.
