On June 15, 28.20 percent planting has been done in Gandaki province. According to the data of the Directorate of Agricultural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, planting has been done in 9 districts of Gandaki province till June 15th.
Paddy is not cultivated in Manang and Mustang, two Himalpari districts. In Gandaki province, there are 479,617 hectares of arable land, but the Ministry of Agriculture has estimated that 94,182 hectares of land will be planted with rice. Last year, 96 thousand hectares of land were planted with rice.
Paddy is grown under the main food crop of Gandaki province. Gorkha's cultivable land is 55 thousand 669, but till now 1 thousand 55 hectares i.e. 10.40 percent planting has been completed. Similarly, Lamjung's cultivable land is 61 thousand 819 hectares. Out of which 34.16 percent i.e. 3 thousand one hundred and 77 hectares of land has been planted, according to the ministry.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, out of 65 thousand 61 hectares of arable land in Tanahun, 1 thousand 623 hectares, i.e. 18.61 percent, 6 thousand 995 of 68 thousand 967 hectares of land, i.e. 43.13 percent in Kaski, 1 thousand 795 of 28 thousand 592 hectares of land in Parbat, 1 thousand 795 of 72 thousand 731 hectares of land, i.e. 18.7, Myagdi 30 thousand 856 Vasudev Regmi, secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture informed that 1,320 hectares of land i.e. 34.68 percent, 2,568 i.e. 45 percent of 46,148 hectares of Baglung and 49,747 hectares of East Nawalparasi have been planted so far 5,429 hectares i.e. 29 percent.
All over Gandaki province, three levels of paddy are planted: advanced, local and Varnashankar (hybrid). In Gandaki, Savitri, Ramdhan, Sukha-1, Sukha-2, Sukha-3, Maharaja, Champion, US-312, Local, Sawa Mansuli, Makwanpur-1, US-312, Jethobudho, Pahele, Gurdi, Ekle, Khumal-4,10, Gauria, Byrni, Seta and Long Jhinua, Marsi, Birimphool, Black and Tunde. Jhinua, Pokhreli Jutho Budho, Gudura, Jarneli, Hardinath-6, Taichung and Anadi varieties of rice are planted. All the local levels of Gandaki province including Pokhara, various political parties and their fraternal organizations have celebrated Paddy Day with various programs.
Among the 9 districts of Gandaki, Chhewetar, Bhusundephant, Palungtar, Jyadulkhola, Arughat, Dhyalchok, Siranchok, Dhyampesal are considered pocket areas of rice cultivation in Gorkha.
Similarly, Kholasothar in Lamjung, Dordi, Dudhpokhari, Masryangdi Gapa, Besishahar Napa, Ramchokphant, Danaiphant, Madhya Nepal, Sundarbazar, Rainas Napa, Bhanu in Tanahun, Beas, Bhimad, Shuklagandaki Napa, Mygde, Vandipur, Avunkhaireni, Falewas in the mountains, Simkhet, Sazakhet, Old Padhero, Kurga, Shankhar Pokhari, Pai, Mardikhola, Kushma, Jaljala, Farse, Vihadi, Mahashila and Kaskima Madi, Rupa, Machhapuchche, Annapurna Gapa and Lahachok, Ghachok, Serachour Salyan, Lekhnath, Pame, Arwa, Syangjama Putlibazar, Waling, Galang and Chapakot Napa within the metropolis, Fedikhola, Arjunchoupari, Andhikhala Gapa, Galkot in Baglung, Nisikhola, Badigad and Jaimini, Ratnechaur in Myagdi, Jamrukkot, Arthunge, Pulachour, Singa, Baranja, Babiachaur, Kuhun, Arman, Darwang, Takam, Ghatan, Patlekhet, Rakhu, Sikh, Ghar, Bhurung Tatopani, Narchang, Dana and Kawasoti, Madhyabindu, Gandakot, Vinayitriveni, Devchuli and Hoopsekot are considered pocket areas of paddy production in Pitle, Nawalpur.
Although it rained from morning to afternoon on Sunday, the farmers of Syangja, Kaski celebrated National Paddy Day by exchanging joy on 15 June. After a long drought, the farmers have been busy in the fields due to the rains that have fallen in the past few days . Madhav Prasad Lamsal, head of the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project Kaski, said that the rains have supported the farmers this year. Stating that Paddy Day is being celebrated as a national festival, he said that along with fun, farmers are also assisted in fertilizer and sowing. "While celebrating Paddy Day, farmers' problems should also be discussed," said Lamsal.
On the occasion of Paddy Day, women's men's hi race, best planting, rope pulling, fish covering and other games have been completed . Prizes were distributed to the awardees. Farmers participating in the planting festival said that there is a problem with fertilizers. Minister of Social Development, Youth and Sports of Gandaki Province Vindukumar Thapa has said that paddy is the backbone of life, culture and self-reliance.
He said this at the 22nd National Paddy Day and Planting Festival held in Khalte Masina in coordination with Pokhara Metropolitan City-14 under the organization of Nepal Farmers Federation Kaski . Rice is the backbone of life, culture and self-sustainable economy. "It is necessary to respect and promote the agricultural profession by imbibing the essence of the original slogan 'Save the soil, grow the rice,'" he said.
