By listing all the workers in Baglung municipality, a policy has been taken to include the workers in social security. The municipality has decided such a policy to join the workers in the contribution-based social security program.
In the policy introduced by Baglung Municipality head Vasant Kumar Shrestha on Monday, it is mentioned that identity cards will be distributed to workers.
He said that a detailed listing of local and outside workers working within the municipality will be done. Last year, by listing a sample of 20 workers, the municipality started trying to keep the cost of labor and connect them to social security. This year it has been addressed as a policy. The municipality has also started the process of labor approval from the local level.
There is a policy to create short-term employment through community infrastructure development, and to employ local workers in small infrastructure projects. The cost of such workers will also be collected in collaboration with the Industry and Commerce Association.
