An inmate of the prison office has died during treatment at the provincial hospital, Beni. Sher Bahadur Vick, about 50 years old from Babiachaur, Mangla rural municipality-2, fell unconscious inside the prison on Thursday afternoon and was taken to the provincial hospital Beni for treatment by the prison administration, the hospital said, and died in the evening.

According to District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Thapa, Vic was taken to the hospital for treatment after suddenly falling unconscious at 2:30 pm on Thursday and he died while preparations were being made to refer him to Pokhara for further treatment. The body has been kept in the mortuary of Beni Hospital and preparations are being made to hand it over to the family on Friday and cremate it according to religious tradition.

Vik, who was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the crime of coercion, had been serving his sentence in the prison office Beni since February 2079.
