Bensi Sahar-Chame road blocked due to landslides has been opened. This road is the only road to Manang, a Himalayan district.
The road was blocked since midnight on Tuesday after a landslide fell from the top of Marsyangdi rural municipality 4, Chamchen near the Lamjung section of the road.
DSP Resham Bohra, Chief of District Police Office Lamjung, said that the news of the road closure was received only in the morning and then the police cleared the landslide and cleared the road in coordination with the road office. According to him, the blocked road has been opened since midday on Wednesday.
'Blocked roads have been cleared by the police in coordination with the road office. As the place is still in danger, it is requested to travel safely, he said.
Baburam Tamang, a local hotelier, said that as soon as the road opened, the vehicles went to their destination. According to him, landslides have occurred in the previous years as well. He said that the place is steep and even though landslide prevention measures were taken, the landslide occurred because it was a steep place.
