A proposal to reduce the tax exemption for the victims of the civil war in Gandaki

The Gandaki state government has proposed to reduce the full tax exemption that martyrs and missing family members of 'Jan Yuddh' are getting in real estate transactions. Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. The word 'people's war' is not mentioned in the bill made to implement the financial proposal presented by Takaraj Gurung in the Parliament for the next financial year 2082/83.

Due to the fact that the word 'people's war' has been removed from the bill, the tax exemptions received by the victims' families related to real estate transactions will be cut. In the financial act of the current financial year and the previous years, the tax exemptions received by the families of the victims of the 'people's war' were not deducted. When bringing the law of the current fiscal year, Dr. Takaraj Gurung was the finance minister. However, he has reduced this discount in the proposed tax policy for the next financial year.

Schedule 1 (d) of the Financial Act of the current financial year states, "All types of fees charged in accordance with this schedule will be completely exempted in the deed passed in the name of dependent spouses, sons and daughters and parents of martyrs who have received shahadat in Jan Andolan, Jan Yudh, Madhesh movement and tribal/tribal movement." .

Family members of civil war victims have been getting a full discount on real estate registration and service fees from the Land Registry Office if they show their identity card issued by the government or a letter of recommendation from the current local level with the permanent address of the owner.

The opposition Maoist Center has objected that the policy and program, budget and finance bill do not mention the martyrs, the missing and their families. Maoist Parliamentary Party leader Hari Bahadur Chuman objected to the reduction of the concessions he was getting in the previous years during the special time of the Parliament meeting on Wednesday. It was not mentioned in the budget, it happened separately. On the other hand, there is no discount for bringing the land in your own name in Malpot. This is a matter of serious objection," he said.

He said that efforts were being made to remove the word 'people's war' in the past year as well, but it would be included after they raised questions.

In December last year, the Supreme Court ordered that the word "people's war" should not be used in official language. The Supreme Court had asked not to use the word 'people's war' as the word 'armed struggle' is being used in the constitution. It is for this reason that the state government did not use the word people's war.

The word "armed struggle" has not been used by the government, so if the bill is passed, the victims of Gandaki's "people's war" will be deprived of real estate business exemption for the next financial year.
