The police have arrested three people who planned to demand 50 lakhs from the owner of a gold and silver shop in Pokhara, accusing him of false sexual abuse.
According to the Kaski Police Office, the three people involved in the incident have been investigated by the Kaski District Court with an extension of seven days. The incident started with a woman working in a gold and silver shop in Pokhara Metropolitan City-4.
According to the police, the woman called her two male friends living in Morang and Sankhuwasabha and made a planned conspiracy. They kept the shopkeeper's wife in a lakeside hotel for a week and threatened her by saying, 'You must provide her with wealth that will last her lifetime, a house to live in and a business to run, or else we will file charges of sexual abuse against your husband and destroy her'.
After getting information about the threat and money recovery attempt, the team assigned from Kaski Police Office arrested them. Among those arrested are 27-year-old Mariam Rai of Pokhara Metropolitan City-15, Tutunga, 38-year-old Dev Limbu of Biratnagar Chowk house in Morang and 40-year-old Tek Bahadur Subedi of Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality-2 of Sankhuwasabha.
Along with the arrest, the police have seized three mobile phones, a pen drive with an audio clip of 'bargaining' and other documents as evidence related to the incident. The police said that they are investigating it as an organized attempt to extort money (extortion) and a crime related to criminal treachery.
According to Hari Bahadur Basnet, Spokesperson of District Police Office Kaski, Deputy Superintendent of Police, a case has been registered with all the evidence involved in the incident. He said that the investigation has been intensified and the work of collecting more facts is continuing, taking the incident seriously.
