Traffic week begins in Gorkha

Traffic week has started in Gorkha with the aim of road governance and accident reduction. On the first day, traffic week was started by pasting stickers on Prabhatferi and long-distance passenger buses and wearing helmets on students.

Rajendra Paudel, Head of District Traffic Police Office Gorkha said that during the week there will be programs such as distribution of traffic awareness pamphlets, mobilizing volunteers at intersections to teach road users to cross the road, reminding and understanding erring drivers.

Removal of unorganized parking, distribution of masks to avoid dust and dust, pasting of stickers, teaching to cross the road where there is no crossroad, targeted training on rural roads, etc. have been scheduled during the traffic week. The road network has reached all the municipalities and villages of the district except Chumanuvri.

The road connecting Himali rural municipality is unpaved, most of the other municipalities  Paudel said that despite the lack of manpower and resources on the roads under construction, efforts have been made to improve traffic management. He said that the lack of standard roads in the district and non-implementation of road standards is a challenge for parking management. .  He also said that there are 290 km of unpaved roads, 198 km of gravel roads, and 652 km of paved roads within the

district. He also said that 10,200 vehicles pass on that road every day and one traffic policeman has to look after 537 vehicles.
