The work of motorable bridge under construction at Naulikhola in Dharche rural municipality-7 Lapubensi under Larke road section has stalled.
Only 55 percent of the bridge, which was contracted to be built last July, has been completed so far. Locals say that the danger has increased in Naulikhola area during Barkha when the under-construction bridge on the road leading to the northern region has come to a standstill.
In July 2079, a contract was signed with Suryodaya Construction Pvt Ltd to complete the bridge by July 2081. As the work was not completed on time, the deadline was extended until next June. But Mohan Shrestha, Engineer of the Infrastructure Office said that the work will not be completed even with the extended deadline. "There is a slope estimate from the pre-stress model, it takes one and a half months to support the slope of this technique, there will be a risk when the monsoon approaches, the work could not be done for the rest of this year," he said.
The work of raising pillars on both sides of the bridge has been completed. Hume pipe has also been laid for diversion, now it is raining, after the rest of the work will not be done, we will make water flow in the same place,' he said, 'Vehicles will not run when there is heavy rain.'
``During the rainy season, Naulikhola became unworkable, work has to be done only in winter, there is no alternative way for vehicles to move,'' Shrestha said, 'There was a problem due to the delay from the contractor.' The bridge will be 35 meters long and 8.40 cm wide. Engineer Shrestha of the infrastructure office said that the work will start soon after the rains. "Now there is work for 3/4 months, we will ask the contractor to start the work as soon as the monsoon is over," he said.
If Naulikhola bridge is completed, it will be easy for local residents of Machanuvri and Chumanuvri villages of Dharche Rural Municipality. With the opening of the Larke road track, jeeps, tractors, trucks and other vehicles have started plying till Pangsing of Chumanuvri Rural Municipality-3. By driving to Pangsing, the distance between the locals has been reduced and the transportation of daily consumables has also become easier. After traveling to Pangsing, the transport fare of consumables has also become cheaper.
