The Chormara Bridge in East Nawalparasi, which was washed away due to the passing of heavy goods vehicles, has been repaired and preparations are being made for traffic operation from this evening.

According to Tara Paudel, owner of the bridge construction company Jalap Nepal, traffic will be operated from there till this evening as the construction work has been completed. The head of the bridge division, Lalijan Khanal, said that the technicians and engineers of the bridge division have checked today after the completion of Chormara bridge construction. Khanal said that the vehicle will probably be driven there from this evening.

216 meters long iron bridge was built 52 years ago. In the first week of Baisakh, the bridge was washed away due to overloaded cargo vehicles.

Although the bridge has been repaired, there is also the risk of breaking from another place when heavy vehicles drive again. It is not that the bridge is now fit and fine, the risk is the same. Overweight vehicles should not be allowed to move there,' Tara Paudel, the head of the contractor company, said, 'The place from where the bridge was broken has been straightened . The whole bridge has not been replaced with new material (iron).'  

The head of the bridge division, Lalijan Khanal, says that the police should work to prevent heavy vehicles from moving on the bridge. Technicians and engineers of the Bridge Division have reached there on Tuesday and monitored and inspected the bridge. "Based on their report, vehicles will be allowed to ply from there until this evening," Khanal said, adding that heavy vehicles should not be allowed to ply. The district administration office is responsible for its control.
