Ride-sharing drivers who charge high fares from service users after the public transport is not running and at night have been prosecuted.

District Police Office Kaski checked the rider at 8 pm on Sunday night after receiving complaints from passengers. DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet, the information officer of the office, said that 8 motorcycles and scooters that demanded more rent were taken into custody. Those who have been prosecuted are drivers registered with the ride sharing company 'Indrive'.

He said that they were released after taking action according to the Transport Management Act 2049. Section 164 of the said Act provides that the police can fine those who commit various offenses from 500 to 1,500 rupees.

After the government of Gandaki province introduced regulations to regulate and manage ride sharing, public transport businessmen are protesting . The demand for ride sharing has increased since public transport did not run. However, ride-sharing drivers have started charging more fares than what is shown on the app .
