Four days ago, after the diversion road of Binayi Khol of Dumkibas was washed away, the one-way traffic has started to flow in both directions since Sunday morning.
According to the District Police Office, after the two-way traffic started, the vehicles stopped for the past 22 hours in Daune have left for their destination. When the vehicles left for east-west via Mahendra Highway were diverted to Binayi Khola diversion of Dumkibas, hundreds of vehicles waiting for their turn were stranded at Daunanne and Dumkibas. On Saturday afternoon, there was a jam for 17 km from Downne to near Chormara.
Traffic has resumed in both directions from this Sunday morning after the construction of the diversion that was carried out last Wednesday night.
The 14-kilometer road section of Downe, which is undergoing road expansion, is jammed for hours every day. This problem is happening when the Chinese contractor company China State Engineering Corporation, which has taken over the construction of the road, is working there at a snail's pace.
Last month, Transport Minister Devendra Dahal, who came to Daunne to request the work to be done quickly, got stuck in a traffic jam for four hours and was rescued by the police.
The day after he returned, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who had come to inaugurate the Gondrang road in Chitwan, reached Gaindakot and conducted an on-site inspection of the Mahendra Highway. At the same time, he instructed the representative of the Chinese contractor, the secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to work in such a way that there is no jam in the road ahead of the monsoon. The Prime Minister and the Minister returned after giving instructions, but the work in Downne is at a snail's pace.
