Due to the protest of public transport businessmen against ride sharing, public life has been affected due to non-operation of public transport in Gandaki province today.

Transport businessmen have stopped public transport in protest against the new regulations introduced by the Gandaki provincial government to give legal recognition to ride sharing. Due to the agitation, long and short distance buses and taxis have not been able to operate in various districts of Gandaki since Friday morning. 

As the public transport is closed, the candidates who are going to participate in the written examination of the lower secondary school level to be conducted by the Teacher Service Commission in Pokhara tomorrow, have stopped in the outer district.

"Due to the closure of public transport throughout the province, life has been affected as long-distance vehicles plying through Pokhara to other cities in the country are not plying. Candidates who are going to take part in the Education Service Commission exam to be conducted in Pokhara tomorrow have called to say they are stuck in Beni," said Myagdi Chief District Officer Gurudatta Dhakal, "We are taking initiatives to bring the examinees to Pokhara." And a joint press release of the transportation businessmen has published a joint press release stating that public vehicles are kept in garages in their respective houses in protest against the publication of a notice in the gazette to allow private vehicles with red plates to be used as public transport vehicles.
