One person has died after being buried in a landslide while digging a road in Darkhola hydropower project located in Dhavalagiri rural municipality-3 Muna of Myagdi. Excavator driver Khemraj Kumal, 32, died on the spot after being buried in a landslide while digging the Kunauta-Dar Shilbang highway under construction for the pipeline of the hydropower project, police said.
Police Assistant Inspector Vikram Tiwari of Takam Police Station informed that the body of excavator driver Kumal, who lives in Chapakot Municipality-8 of Syangja, was found in a torn state inside the excavator and preparations are being made to send the body to the State Hospital Beni for post-mortem. After the incident, the police and local residents pulled out the body of the excavator driver from the landslide.
While digging the highway, a landslide that fell from above has completely damaged even the excavator. The 6.5 MW Darkhola hydropower project to be constructed by Darkhola Hydropower Limited is currently constructing a road in Lampus Bhir to place the penstock pipe.
