It has been 24 years since Ram Bahadur Kshatri of Kusma Municipality-2 started an industry called 'Khurkot Maury Ghar'. The beehives made by him are consumed in the district. But this year, his beehive was not sold. He says, 'The beehives that have been made are in stock. Well, it may not be sold this year.'
Ram Bahadur, who sells 300 to 500 beehives every year, has been able to sell only 50 this year. Kusma Municipality and Agricultural Knowledge Center, Parbat used to purchase many beehives from his industry in the past. However, since the municipality did not purchase beehives even when the financial year was about to end, this year his beehives will be stored in the warehouse.
'From the beginning, the agriculture office used to take care of our hives. At this time, sharing a hive with bees They haven't taken it", he says disappointedly, "Beehive builders are increasing. Kusma municipality must have bought it from the nearest place.'' Apart from this, he sells beehives from village to village.
In the year 2058, Ram Bahadur's father started making beehives. He was helping his father's work and turned this skill into a business. He says that the household expenses of the family are going well. He was like the only one making a beehive on the mountain. But recently, Ram Bahadur says, competition has started to increase as many have started making mori ghar.
He sells a beehive for 3500. He says that he also gives a few rupees to those who buy a lot. He said that beehives are made from Tuni and Utis wood. "Others make beehives from different types of wood too", he said. If we don't get utis and tunis in the village, we bring them from outside to work.
Three people from the village have found employment in his industry. Ram Bahadur said that according to the demand of the beehive, workers are also added. "Regularly, four people including me work", he said, "In the past years, more workers were needed, but now we are too many."
Ram Bahadur has not been supported by the state. "They say they can't help the industry", he said, "The local body has done the procurement." It is called cooperation or business relationship. Ram Bahadur says that he is still satisfied with the beehive business till today. He has a family with three sons, a daughter and a wife. One son works abroad and two sons are in Nepal. Ram Bahadur said that his daughter is already married.
