Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, has asked the ride sharing riders to be ready to serve the passengers if the public transport operators protest. He asked the riders and self-drive operators who came to thank them on Sunday for issuing the ride sharing regulations to be ready to serve in any possible situation.
They said they will stop. At that time, you should support us,'' he said, 'not to go to meet.' We must be ready to serve the passengers.'
He said that public transport businessmen do not understand the use of ride-sharing around the world and the wishes of passengers. He suggested that it would be better if the public transport businessmen were also involved in ride sharing. "It would be fine if the public transport businessmen were not negative." There is competition in the open market. Don't think otherwise in the competitive market,'' he added, 'even if they are included in the current app . Chief Minister Pandey objected to the reaction of the Supreme Court's order to the state and not to the Union government. He said that since the order of the judicial body is a precedent, it will apply to all governments. "I also saw that they said the verdict of the Supreme Court to the union and not to the state," he said, "it does not mean that the decision made by one body is applicable to one and not to the other". The decision made by the High Court of Pokhara can be a precedent in other provinces.' He asked the riders to inform the company they are affiliated with to register within 30 days according to the
regulations. He warned that there is a problem of transporting passengers offline and action will be taken if they do so. "Don't drive offline, ask for more than the specified fare, and don't engage in haggling," said Pandey, "If you are greedy for 100, you will get 1000."
The safety of the driver along with the passengers is in the interest of the provincial government, he said. He warned the riders and self-drive operators that the state government will strictly monitor if there is any activity contrary to the regulations.
Riders Pokhara Coordinator Anil Shrestha thanked Chief Minister Pandey for addressing the demand that ride sharing should be organized. He said that the implementation of ride sharing is inevitable due to the demand of passengers. "Riders would not have been established. The demand for it has increased because passengers are looking for it,' he said.
Gandaki State Government Cabinet meeting held on 30th of Baisakh passed the Ride Sharing (Regulation and Management) Regulations 2082 . The said regulation has been implemented after its publication in the provincial gazette on May 1.
