Clashes at Tarun Dal convention in Lamjung

In Lamjung, there was a scuffle between the two parties in the district convention of Tarun Dal, a youth organization close to the Congress.

During the opening session of the 5th district convention held on Saturday in the headquarters, Bensi Sahar, the khukuri was attacked. Police Inspector Rajkishore Sah Teli informed that 5 people were injured in the incident.

Tarun Dal regional chairman Khushijang Gurung, who is also the ward president of Benisahar municipality-9, party district working committee member Kishorejang Basnet, Navy Sangh central member Sudip Adhikari, Tarun Dal's Shankar Sapkota and Dhan Ghale were injured. The injured Gurung has been referred to Kathmandu and the officer has been referred to Bharatpur. 

They were referred for further treatment after suffering a head injury and needing a CT scan. Police Inspector Teli said that the remaining 3 people were discharged after normal treatment at Lamjung Provincial Hospital.

The dispute between the establishment of the district and other parties regarding the selection of full-time membership and representatives has led to a situation that led to a fight. Takaraj Gurung Pakshadhar, the economic affairs minister of Gandaki province, who is also the party district chairman, attacked the youth of the former party chairman and forest and environment minister of the province, Bhesh Bahadur Paudel.

The youth of other groups protested by standing in front of the stage of the convention saying that distribution of full-time membership was rigged and arbitrary in the selection of representatives. They demanded the adjournment of the session. After that, the youth of the establishment party threw chairs at other groups. When youths from other groups ran away, they were shot outside the convention venue. Addressing the

convention, Tarun Dal Central President Scholar Gurung said that he will discuss the incident with the party leader of Lamjung. He said that they will return only after holding a convention. "Whether it is through consensus, through dialogue or through voting, we will end the convention of Lamjung Tarun Dal," he said. After this, he informed that the session has been postponed until May 10.
