Galkot municipality has started blood transfusion service in city hospital. Because surgery was also started, blood transfusion services were becoming necessary here.
Hospital chief Dr. Dr. Rajesh Paudel increased cooperation among locals living abroad. After allocating some budget from the municipality, Sripali Basnet Society, Red Cross Society district branch together with blood transfusion service was brought into operation. Poudel informed that Red Cross district branch will provide blood transfusion services here as Galkot unit.
Mayor Bharat Sharma Gayre said that the center has been handed over to the Red Cross. Donors have supported equipment and materials at a cost of about 14 lakhs, while the municipality has built infrastructure for blood circulation in the hospital at a cost of 15 lakhs. "Many lives have been saved when the city hospital came into operation in the rural areas, so we have also provided a little help in emergency blood transfusion," said local Devendrasingh Basnet, "we want patients not to be referred due to the lack of blood." Even though the operation service was in operation at the hospital, those in need of blood had to be referred.
A 15-bed hospital has been operating here for three years by managing the land and building of the then primary health center. Video X-ray, ultrasound, lab, OPD, post-mortem services along with delivery services are in operation in the hospital. Since physiotherapy and eye treatment centers have been put into operation, the residents of rural areas have also got easy services.
Mayor Gayre informed that they are preparing to recruit new employees for the next financial year by working with the hospital's human resources. In order to make hospital services more effective, the municipality has also launched an ambulance service.
