The 11-day Sawa Lakh Rot Festival has started from Monday at the Gorakhnath Temple located in the Gorkha Darbar. The 22nd Rot Festival has started under the organization of Siddashram Shakti Kendra.

Ramji Aryal, head of Siddashram Shakti Kendra, said that 1 lakh 25 thousand rupees will be offered to Gorakhnath during the festival. On the first day of the festival, flag hoisting, Jyotipujan, special puja of Gorakhnath, Havan and other programs were held on Monday. A procession with a tableau was taken out from Gorkha Vaspark to Gorkha Darwar.

center has been organizing Sawalakh rot festival since 2061.  Two types of rots are offered to Gorakhnath, Tai and Bhugren, prepared from cow, barley or rice flour. There is a religious belief among some local people that every season, after the arrival of new grains, the flour of the new grain is cooked in ghee and eaten only after offering it to Gorakhnath.
