The south road under Mahendra Highway, which was blocked since 2 o'clock in the morning on Sunday, has resumed one-way operation after 16 hours. According to District Police Chief Yadav Dhakal, the highway was made one-way by placing gravel on the Hilamme highway this afternoon due to the sun.
Traffic was disrupted in Daunne and surrounding areas from 2 am on Sunday morning. The police have requested the vehicles traveling east-west through the Mahendra Highway to use the Kaligandaki Corridor.
The road from Narayangadh to Butwal on Mahendra Highway is still safe due to slippage. Dhakal said that vehicles are coming from West Bardghat towards Narayangadh and efforts are being made to send them to the west since night.
The 14-kilometer road between Dumkibas-Bardghat on the Mahendra Highway lies in the southern hills. The road that was demolished 6 years ago to build a highway there is dusty and slippery when it rains.
